The Inaugural Events
SciFM began in 2024 with Scientific Foundation Models, followed by Scientific Discovery in the Age of AI. Both were organized and hosted by the Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering (MICDE) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Foundation Models and AI Agents for Science
The third conference was hosted by the University of Chicago in May 2026, bringing together researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers to examine the growing role of foundation models, AI agents, and advanced computational systems in scientific research.

Returning to Ann Arbor
The fourth conference returns to Ann Arbor in late spring of 2027, organized by MICDE, the College of Pharmacy, and the Department of Physics, a core venue for physics-informed learning, AI, and laboratory automation.
