ABOUT

The #SciFM series has quickly become the premier conference on foundation models and AI agents for scientific discovery and engineering innovation. The conference features engaging talks and panel discussions from thought leaders and world-renowned experts from national labs, academia, and leading AI companies, and includes hands-on tutorials and interactive workshops.

The events cover a broad range of topics, including techniques to enhance mathematical and scientific reasoning, AI-driven workflows, advancements in algorithmic and computational infrastructure, and applications in fields such as biology, energy sciences, climate science, and materials science. They also focus on envisioning and creating a national ecosystem for AI-augmented science.

The SciFM conference series began in 2024, with its inaugural event, #SciFM24: Scientific Foundation Models, on April 2-3, 2024, followed by #SciFM25: Scientific Discovery in the Age of AI, on May 28-30, 2025. These conferences were organized and hosted by the Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering (MICDE) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
#SciFM26, will be hosted by Argonne National Laboratory and the University of Chicago on May 27-29, 2026.
